How to claim an Irish Record

Competition records may only be set in open events. Where no performance exists for a record. Cycling Ireland will set a standard time, which must be beaten in order to claim a record.

A new record claim will not be accepted unless it improves on the existing record or standard by one second or 200 yards for 12 and 24-hour events. To have a record ratified the following must be submitted to Cycling Ireland.

  • The claim must be lodged in writing by the competitor within one month of the event.
  • The claim must be accompanied by documentary evidence that:
  • The course measurement is accurate
  • The start/finish positions and time keeping complied with the rules of the Cycling Ireland
  • The claimant started at the allotted time.
  • A written report must be supplied by the turn steward confirming that the rider/riders passed him/her (Only applicable for an out and back course)

Written confirmation from the commissaire that the gear limitation was not exceed (Only applicable for Junior record claims)

Place-to-place Records

Notification of a place-to-place record attempt must be lodged with Cycling Ireland at least three weeks prior to the attempt. The following information must be supplied:

  • The name and licence details of the rider making the attempt.
  • The record being attempted.
  • The direction in which the record will be attempted and the time and date on which the record will be attempted.
  • The names of the timekeeper and the commissaire who observed the attempt.

 

Track Records

The claim on the appropriate claim form must be submitted to Cycling Ireland within one month of the event and must be accompanied by the timing strip signed by the time keeper, or the official result communiqué.

Records may be set at either an open track meeting or by a record attempt observed by and approved commaissaire.In the later case notification of the attempt must be lodged with Cycling Ireland at least three weeks prior to the event including rider name, the event, the date, the track and the names of the commissaire and the timekeeper.

All – Comers Record

Any UCI approved licence holder, competing in a Cycling Ireland sanctioned event, who beats a standing record may lodge a claim for recognition of their performance as an “All-Comers Record “ in accordance with Cycling Ireland claims procedures 

Disability Records

Records in respect of Disability Cycling will be recognised for the following:

  • Blind and Visually Impaired
  • Locomotor Disorder
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Hand Cycling

 

The record, subject to ratification, will be in respect of the fastest times recorded in International Competions as defined in Cycling Ireland’s Technical Regulations.
